Standards and Learning Objectives

Wichita Public School's district standards and ISTE's National Educational Technology Standards were used in this project.

  Wichita Public School district standards and learning objectives used to complete the Disaster project included:  

#1  Write by generating, selecting, rethinking and reviewing ideas resulting in effective communication for different occasions, audiences, and purposes.

#2  Use the conventions, structure, and power of language to achieve purpose.

#3  Read and respond to literature of different genres, cultures, and periods.

#4  Read effectively by identifying details, making inferences, determining central ideas, and using other comprehension strategies.

#5  Locate and use information from varied reference materials drawing upon media, community, and technology.

#6  Speak effectively by presenting ideas to a small group and contribute to a group task through effective listening and oral expression.

#7  Use the computer as an aid to the writing process.

#8  Develop and broaden vocabulary when listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

    ISTE National Educational Technology Standards (NETS):

1. Basic operations and concepts

2. Social, ethical, and human issues

3. Technology productivity tools

4. Technology communication tools
