Highlights from the February Minutes
Lego Robotics presented some of their projects to our parents in Site Council. Way to go!
Channel 12 came to interview parents about the budget.
Our March meeting will be moved to March 9th from the 11th.
We have a million dollar grant that might be awarded to us for our magnet. To apply for the grant we will be writing in CHAMPS, support, teaching positions, math, science, engineering, reading, etc. This will help with technology and is a 3 year grant.
March 2nd will be the downlink for our students to interview the NASA astronauts.
Engineering Extravaganza will be focused on aviation. We discussed different ideas for this event.
September 25th and 26th is the McConnell Air Show. Mr. Santry is attempting to see if the Thunderbirds will do an air show for our students.
March 1st is the board meeting out at Southeast or West high school. This is when people from all over the community will meet in groups to discuss what is important to our parents.
Remember reading state testing is on March 3rd, 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th.
March 29th-April 1st is Math testing

Highlights from the December Minutes
Currently there is no new information regarding the bond improvements.
Discussions were held regarding a Spring Engineering Extravaganza.
The CHAMPS rubric was discussed.
January 26, 2010 at 6 PM there will be a Math night.
Mueller is working on a DAD'S Program. It will start with Donuts for Dads.
Vianca Neal was nominated for a Good Apple award. The Young Eagle Aviation Club was also honored.
February 26th from 12-3 PM students will have the opportunity to talk live with the astronauts on the Space Station. We are planning a lot of activities to go along with this event. We get to have 3rd-5th go to the Exploration Place for this. We will have a conference news release next week about this.
An idea was shared about having a video of our “Wow” moments. This would be great to hand out to parents. Also another idea was to have a annual yearbook of our newspaper clippings and such. We will be reaching out to WSU journalism and techies to help with the video.
Our next meeting will be on February 18th and Lego Robotics will be presenting in preparation for the March 6th competition.
