Dewey Decimal System
The Dewey Decimal System is a method of organizing books by grouping similar subjects into 10 main classes and assigning each a number. Our nonfiction books are organized by this system developed by Melvil Dewey. Most school libraries and public libraries use this system of organizing. So, if you learn to use it at Mueller School Library, you will be able to find information and books almost anywhere.
Each of the 10 main classes are subdivided further. It's not always easy to pinpoint where to look just by the names of the 10 main divisions.
Take a look at how the system is organized.
