WSU Engineering Department
Students from WSU will be working with Mueller students on different problem based learning activities. These learning activities will include LegoRobotics, Engineering Design, working with the Fairmount Center along with the WSU wind tunnel. All of these activities will create enthusiasm and excitement not only about our four key focus areas, but the possibility of attending college at WSU in the future!
The Cosmosphere
The Kansas Cosmosphere of Hutchinson is eager to help support our program also! The Cosmosphere’s staff will present information and do hands on lessons with the Mueller faculty and students on topics such as: The Solar System, Investigating Space, Mars Academy, and Our Home Planet, Earth. Space artifacts and models will be displayed at Mueller during a Family Night or an assembly featuring a guest speaker such as a pilot, engineer, or an astronaut. Many of our students will also attend field trips to the Cosmosphere to learn more about the history of space, astronomy, geography, and geology through interactive discovery lessons and presentations! Our partner has generously donated money for eight students from grades 2-5 to attend space camp at the Cosmosphere this summer.
EAA Young Eagles Chapter 88
A group of local pilots whose call is to share their love of flight with students ages 8-17 has partnered with Mueller. This group, Experimental Aircraft Association or EAA Young Eagles Chapter 88, has given it’s time and resources to make airplane rides available to our 3rd through 5th grade students. On November 7, 2009 they organized a Mueller Aviation Day and gave free plane rides to over eighty students. Members have also volunteered to visit Mueller and offer a Flight School to our students, as well as work with teachers to plan for guest speaking opportunities.
Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Chapter 52
The Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Chapter 52, graciously donated 12 Building Bridges to Engineering Understanding Kits to our fifth grade classrooms. They are excited to mentor students and work with teachers to help build understanding of the mass production and manufacturing process of engineering in our society.

Interested in Becoming a Partner?
Mueller Aerospace and Engineering Discovery Magnet seeks to involve local industries and businesses by encouraging their interaction and collaboration through career days, tutoring, hosting and/or funding field trips, providing resources for our students, and/or speaking to grade levels about their passion in the aviation/engineering world. We look forward to having these businesses work on projects along side the teacher and students in addition to becoming a resource to our magnet school either financially or through a business partnership.
If you or your corporation is interested in the prospect of becoming a partner or sponsor for our magnet program, please contact Anne Clemens, Principal at aclemens@usd259.net.
