All facets of musical instruction are based on the National Music Education Standards:

Performing on instruments, alone and with others, variety of repertoire
    Improvising melodies, variations, and accompaniments
    Composing music within specified guidelines
Listening to, analyzing and describing music
    Evaluating music and music performances
Understanding relationships between music, the other arts and disciplines outside the arts
Understanding music in relation to history and culture

Mueller Meisterringers Handchime Ensemble: This choir is a select group of 4th and 5th grade students who rehearse 3 times each week during the lunch recess period. The choir performs throughout the Wichita community at various venues.

Our newest innovation is our Yamaha Clavinova Digital Keyboard Lab: This lab consists of 14 full-size digital pianos that are connected to the teacher’s Clavinova CVP 92 piano. Two students sit at a piano and have headphones in which to hear teacher instruction and themselves. The students learn to play simple piano pieces with accompaniments from a disk that is played from the teacher’s console. Recording capabilities and computer interaction are also possible with these keyboards.

Students present their own musicals each year:  These programs are fully staged, costumed and choreographed productions by the children and music teachers. A professionally produced video tape of each performance is available for purchase (proceeds go to music department for future productions).
