Room
4 and 5 have an interesting curriculum. We
are special education, with several focuses. We
strive to achieve independence; this is done through everyday tasks that many of
us take for granted.
We
cook, clean, and learn about the benefits of grooming.
We pay attention to signs everywhere, stop, exit, hospital and other
signs that we encounter everyday. We
learn most of our math through money. The
concept of five pennies fitting into one nickel is amazing to us.
With
middle school around the corner for several of us, the idea of socializing is to
become a reality. Knowing
how to hold a conversation, talk about current events, and eat a meal with
others. Learning to comprehend a
good book is also imperative for those getting ready for middle school.
For
our younger classmates, learning how to take our alphabet and form words then
turn them into sentences has become part of every activity during our day.
With
our main objective being independence, our classmates look forward to
learning, for this is a very important aspect to everyone's lives.
We
have 3 Para-Educators to help us. They are Ms. Kates-Asher, Mrs.
Bessie Manuel-Evans, and Mrs. Stephanie Howe. Without their help we would be lost.
